Coughs, Colds and Sore Throats
Coughing is part of the body's defence mechanism and serves and important purpose. A cough is a sign that there is an infection. Colds are caused by a viral infection, which is why antibiotics don't work against a cold. Sore throats often mark the start of a cold or 'flu, but can also be due to a localised infection.
