For many years the best–kept secret of models and make–up artists, Carmex lip balm is now available in high street stores across the country to soothe the dry, chapped lips of the nation. Carmex has been manufactured by Carma Laboratories in Franklin, Wisconsin since 1937, and is also available in a screw-capped tube. Its active ingredients include menthol, camphor, and phenol (an anesthetic). Also included are fragrance in petrolatum, natural lanolin, cocoa butter, salicylic acid, and a wax base. Many users find the menthol and camphor produce a warm, soothing sensation when applied. Carmex was voted the number one recommended over-the-counter lip balm product by pharmacists.
